On September 4, 2013, Buehler’s Fresh Foods proudly announced the beginning of a complete renovation of its Milltown store near Wooster, Ohio. The remodeling was scheduled to be completed in four different phases to cause as little disruption as possible to Buehler’s customers during their shopping experiences. The entire construction project was completed in 14 months. The first remodeling phase was designed to update and improve the dairy, meat and seafood departments as well as UPS, American Greeting Cards and to relocate the Kidzpark within the store. The Click, Load and Go zone was renovated and a Cooking School was added.
Phase II was comprised of the Ritzman Pharmacy and the over the counter plus health and beauty merchandise section were moved to the front, where a drive-through was added. The Kidzpark was relocated towards the rear of the store so that the Service Center could be placed in the front of the store. The restrooms were remodeled. The produce and prepared food relocated to the front section of the store also; as they are really what Buehler’s is most noted for, they should have pride of place. Buehler’s orders their fresh perishables from local farmers and Amish auctions to get the very best and freshest merchandise available.
In the rear corner where produce was once located now features the beer and wine. Tucked between them is the merchandise from their acquired state liquor agency.
Phase III covered the main entrance, the Mill Restaurant, the renovated Community Room and the Deli.
Phase IV included a made-from-scratch bakery as a new addition. The Chef’s School has a glass wall through which customers may observe classes as they shop. The Frozen Food section was also been updated.
Exposed floral cases brighten up one of the store’s main aisles with color and scent. As a customer service initiative, the Click, Load and Go is coupled with online shopping, making it possible for customers to place their order over the Internet, then drive through to pick it up. While undertaking this 110,466 total square footage remodel, focus groups from the community offered a great deal of thoughtful input that was considered by the designers.
The project was completed in November of 2014.
